Among its many benefactors, ReligionAndPublicLife.org serves public schools and government agencies. To maintain our legal status as content providers in these state-funded agencies, we follow the federal government guidelines for awarding publicly-funded contracts. As the U.S. Department of Justice notes, "there is no general federal law that prohibits faith-based organizations that receive Federal funds from hiring on a religious basis." In this context, 1791 Delegates will award an onboarding grant to faith-based organizations as long as the grant is used for civic education and not for religious activities (see DOJ guidelines). The grantee's contributions must advance the aforementioned Consensus Statements, as distributed by the U.S. Department of Education.
